Our famed Boston Tea Party was certainly a case of criminal trespass, and felony destruction of property. But we have to remember a critical difference between “then”and “now”.
Then, the only “law” we had was the whim of a king and of a parliament in which we had no representation. That meant we were subject to compulsion any time we did not yield, i.e. no freedom. Freedom is part of Divine Law, to which any human law must conform, if it is to be valid.
So we violated invalid “law”, in service to higher Law. That did not mean that we were not subject to severe human penalties if caught, and many were, during the world-changing upheaval of our Revolution.
In the end, we won. What that “winning” meant, has to be the foundation of how we plan, now. What we won was the opportunity to set up new government, based firmly and correctly on Natural or Divine Law, with the explicit charge that it secure our rights, and with explicit limitations so that it could not trespass on them.
You may protest that it is not working that way, and you are correct. But if a bank gets robbed because the guard is asleep, and the robber does not get prosecuted because the prosecutor is on the take, is that the fault of the law? NO, it is because the law is not being enforced.
So, our Constitution is not being enforced….but who is it who is asleep, and who is on the take?
It is unfortunately you and I, We, the People , that are. We have been cozened by generations of politicians to accept their offers to “take care of us”, and bought with dregs of our own stolen money.
This web-site, and the Tactical Civics program, are all about how that failure came about, and most importantly the nuts and bolts of HOW to wake up, and fix it: HOW to enforce our Constitution, how that document itself prescribes that it must be enforced. Very little of the process would make a good movie. Most of it is calm debate, teaching, relationship-building, gardening, learning, training. Little or none of it is likely to get you into the news, or the jail.
The most important bedrock understanding is that we now HAVE an excellent framework of true law, WITHIN which and BY which we CAN jail the criminals who are subverting it, and restore our freedom and our society’s proper functioning. If we let bad feelings from abuse and corruption, confusion from falsification of the idea of “law”, cause us to turn our backs on the PROCESS and resort to lawlessness or violence, we BECOME THE ENEMY, and lose the road back to peace and freedom.
So, YES, we MUST obey the law, the true law, at all points, so that we can by our own deeds and example create the world of peace, freedom, due process, secure rights, that we want ourselves and our children to live in.
Knowing at any moment, in any situation, WHAT the true applicable law is, is in a sense our greatest challenge. We live in a fog of deliberate and careless lies, twisted history, bad examples, and exhortations to hysteria. To actually apply and enforce the Law calls for all our gifts of discernment, study of Scripture and history, advice of old, cool, trusted heads, and courage.
If God had wanted to give you simple, easy life, He would have made you a dandelion.
